This sealing washer is designed to protect surfaces. The tapered part of the washer fully enters the pitch of the screw to provide sealing. The ring creates a particulartly effective frictional resistance with the screw. It also prevents rotation of the retaining ring around the screw and effectively prevents the screw from loosening because thanks to its filling system of free spaces, it forms a seal against leakage.
